About GTC and GTC Photo Gallery:

The 30-acre Granberg Training Center {GTC} located off Highway 193 outside of Georgetown, California in El Dorado County, opened in 1989 as a equestrian center teaching riding skills, care of horses, and starting students into the world of showing horses.

In 1993, GTC transitioned from an equestrian-based business to dog training and boarding.. Pastures and former horse runs were fenced for dogs and the 12 x 12, four-stall horse barn became the main kennel for dog boarding, Boarding clients referred to GTC as “Disneyland for Dogs,” as they watched their beloved companions running through the tunnels and over the obstacles in the large grassy turn-out fields. As the boarding business grew, more facilities were built to house dogs, each unit designed with an in/out shelter and large, grass run.

Day care for puppies developed in 2001 as a result of the need to provide safe socialization opportunities for the puppies in this rural community. As puppies matured into adolescents, many clients remained in day care as they recognized the value of the motto: “A tired dog is a good dog.” Some of our day care clients have been with us for five years.

Agility for fun was added to the training program in 2002. Beginning agility classes in El Dorado County had long waiting lists, and, owners had no opportunity to practice on agility obstacles outside of class. The GTC horse arena became a dedicated agility field with obstacle encountered in agility competition. Clients learn to safely train and work their dog on obstacles.

In 2005, GTC became fully licensed as a dog boarding, dog training, and day care center for dogs by El Dorado County Animal Control.
